One night I had a vision/dream. I saw it very clearly. It was the face of a Native American Indian and I remember distinctly what he looked like. A day or two later, I went to pick up the wood table I have in my healing room. When I did, she had a rock there with the same picture as my dream. I asked her if she knew who it was but she had no idea. She said she had tried and tried to scrub the picture off but it wouldn’t come off. I took a picture of it. I went home and started searching for that picture only to find out it was Chief Black Elk. I went back and purchased the rock and it is in my healing room today. Then when I received my attunement for Reiki, he showed up again only this time he was on a horse. That was several months after I had the dream and purchased the rock with his picture on it. What a great confirmation!
Chief Black Elk is one of my Ascended Masters and has helped me tremendously during my spiritual walk. He also helps regularly in healing and has shown himself to several people during healings. He was a powerful Medicine Man.
I have searched all over for a Native American that would do a pipe ceremony. This was something I started searching for shortly after starting Vegas Crystal Healings & More in September, 2015. I remember going to the indian shop on Fremont street with a friend several years ago. I really connected with the art there and my heart’s desire was that one day I would be able to attend a ceremony. I was raised in Oklahoma and a good portion of my friends growing up were Native American. The town I grew up in was named after a specific tribe.
Because Chief Black Elk was Lakota, I preferred to specifically find a Lakota Medicine Man. I found one but he wouldn’t do a pipe ceremony for anyone other than his own tribe. Another wasn’t Lakota and I was blocked multiple times from him even walking in my shop. Now I understand why – it was for multiple reasons. I am grateful for the blocks!
One day, a man came into the shop looking for a specific type of crystal and we got to talking. We conversed like we had known each other for years. I expressed what I was looking for and one day I hoped to be able to offer a Native American Pipe Ceremony specifically from a Lakota. Thas was something I would no longer budge on. He told me he knew one that might do it.
A few weeks later I was in the middle of the Children’s Fairy Event. I had someone that had been lined up to talk to the children about fairies but they were a no show. I’m glad now it worked out that way or the following events may not have transpired. During the event, my customer came back into the shop with a Native American. I could feel the energy the moment he walked in the door – very strong and very big energy. It was the one my customer had told me about. I wasn’t able to stop and talk to him since I was the one doing the fairy event and we had dirt out making fairy plant ornaments talking about fairies. I explained to him my situation and apologized for not being able to talk to him; however, did he believe in fairies? He chuckled and told me he played with them all the time as a child and yes – fairies are real. I asked him if he would mind coming to the back and talking to the children about fairies. He glowed as he came back and told us stories of his childhood experiences with the fairies. We were all mesmerized and learned a lot that day just listening to him. Everything he said lined up with everything I have learned in my studies over the last several years. He even gave a few tidbits that I didn’t know. How cool!
I asked them if they could come back later that afternoon and they agreed. Before we started talking about the type of ceremony I was wanting to offer, there were some things that needed addressed at the shop. He felt and saw what was taking place. He asked if I had permission to be there and I agreed that I had asked permission to be there and was welcomed warmly at first. It was as the business grew that the energies shifted. He explained to me that is was nothing I had done and what had taken place spiritually in terms I could understand because you see…I really didn’t understand what I had done. We held a ceremony right then and there. I was cleansed and blessed and so was the shop. It was very powerful and I will be forever grateful for his help that day! I felt lead to give him a $100 bill as an energetic exchange. That’s what I was told to do in my mind so I did it. Now understand that both my rent for the shop and apartment were both due and I am a small business. Pulling out $100 is not an easy task but that’s what I was told to do so I was obedient. Just with that act of faith, the store brought in five fold that day. You see…something many people don’t understand is that when you take energy, there needs to be an exchange. The only thing we really have to offer for the most part is money. I had nothing to offer him so I gave him money. He did not ask for money – I was lead to give it to him. He did it because he saw a need and we were going to be doing future events together so he wanted to help. It was still energy though and I wanted to do an exchange of energy. It takes my energy to make that money so it was a fair trade and everyone was happy.
As we talked more about what I was looking for, a customer came in so we had to cut it short. We scheduled another day for them to come in to talk about what it was that I was wanting to do. They came back a few days later. We spent about 3 hours talking. We learned more about each other, our spiritual paths and our lives – what brought us to where we are today. What our high points were and our low points. We later got down to business – what was it I wanted. I said the word “blessing” and not understanding what that meant in Lakota, that started an entirely different path. (Squirrel!) You see, a “blessing” ceremony to a Lakota is not a pipe ceremony. He explained everything that would take place and what needed to be done to prepare. I expressed that it was way more than I was looking for but agreed to attend one of his blessing ceremonies so I could experience it and see. I attended one and although it was a very good experience, it was not what I was looking for. I did a LOT of research to discover different types of Lakota ceremonies but I kept being lead back to a pipe ceremony.
We met again yesterday and discussed the possibilities. One of his questions to me was, “What exactly do you think a pipe ceremony does?” My response was that it connects earth with spirit. It’s a spiritual experience. He asked, “What it is that you are wanting people to experience?” My response was that I wanted them to experience special things unique to each person according to their intention. He asked exactly what I meant so I then went on to tell him what I experienced at a pipe ceremony I attended one time.
It was during the time I was looking for my own location and I was going through a lot spiritually. I was tired of renting a room at a spa and needed my own space. (Couples massages on the other side of the wall where spiritual work is taking place is simply not a good mix of energy.) I had goals and dreams that I have worked towards for over 20 years to obtain and the time was drawing near. When I went to the pipe ceremony, I went with the intention of receiving confirmations. I needed to know I was making the right decision in signing a 3 year lease on a retail space. Was I protected? Would I be successful? Would I be doing this alone or did I have spiritual help? (I already knew the answer to that question but needed confirmations.) I had so many questions and needed both answers and multiple confirmations.
What I experienced was phenomenal! The first thing that happened was my wolves showed up. They had beautiful, thick coats of grey and white – there were several. One was in the background of my mind like a silhouette, another was behind a mountain and there were more peering out from behind the trees in the woods. They were there watching me and I was surrounded by them. Protecting me. I had their protection and although they were not in the front, they were there watching and waiting in case they were needed. Then I had my black bear come in and rare up in the background then walk towards me. This had a special meaning to me. The black bear has always been with me but in addition to that, my dad was known as “Bear” (man). He raised black bears and one grizzly bear. Sometimes the grizzly shows up but the black bear has significant meaning to me other than being one of my spirit animals. I don’t remember now the other visions I had – there was a lot that took place in my mind’s eye. Then there was a huge gold burst of a phoenix. WOW! Talk about bliss! It looked like the 4th of July! A HUGE gold burst like that of a firecracker in the night sky lit up my entire mind then settled in the form of a phoenix. It was at that point that I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt, I was making the right decision. I literally felt an energetic shift – a good sized jolt. I went home that night knowing what I must do. I then signed the lease for my current location and have not looked back.
That’s what I want for people. I want them to be able to come with an intention and receive their own visions in their mind’s eye of their spirit animals, of confirmations, of answers to their questions and prayers, and to have a miraculous experience just as I did. Help them open their Third Eye. Finding the right person to do this was all I have been waiting for. It had to be right. I really preferred a Lakota since I work so closely with Chief Black Elk. I believe the right person was brought directly to me – he literally just walked into the shop. Funny how things fall into place when we just let go and be still!
We met for a couple hours planning what we wanted to do. He shared some things that were really just confirmations for me. We talked about what we wanted to do in the future. How we wanted to help people learn and understand Native American ways – the right way. We want to develop a respect for native traditions by allowing them to be a part of it.
So…what can you expect? Well, there are several things. First, the medicine man will be wearing a bonnet. That is for his protection. When a Native American of any tribe subjects himself to others that have no knowledge of the traditions and beliefs, he is subjecting himself to spiritual warfare. A pipe ceremony is not something most medicine men will even do other than for their own tribe. The bonnet protects him spiritually. It’s not for “show”. It is both tradition during ceremonies as well as spiritual protection. Remember that this is not just a Native American doing a simple pipe ceremony. This is a Lakota Native American Medicine Man that takes his work very seriously. This is what he does. This is his livelihood.
He will be bring handcrafted ceremonial instruments. We will be granted use of these instruments as they are tools for connection. They are healing instruments. He will work with each person individually clearing karmic bonds giving people a new start. A new beginning. He will be bringing his Chanupa. (A little information about the Chanupa. The Chanupa Wakan, Lakota for sacred pipe is an important part of American tribal culture. It is a means of showing respect for the natural order of things, and in offering prayers to the creator, which are carried to Wakan Tanka on the smoke, by the spirit of the tobacco plant, one of the four sacred herbs. The smoke is not inhaled. The Chanupa is a spiritual artifact, always to be treated with respect and care, and used only in a sacred and prayerful manner. When it is put together with the stem, it is sacred and represents two spirits, that of the male and the female. The stem represents the male and the bowl represents the female.)
Women may not be on their “moon time” or “power time”. Now why is that? During her Moon time, a woman is going through her own natural purification process. While her body is going through this natural purification, she is also recharging her own body’s powers and energies, so it is a cleansing and restorative time for her. Because a woman’s power is being renewed during this process, she must stay away from all sacred ceremonies…A woman’s power during her moon time is so strong that it can draw the power away from the pipe ceremony. Her power during this time can interfere with the power in the Sacred Pipe and Eagle Feathers. Don’t worry. If you are on your “moon time”, we will be doing this monthly for a few months so perhaps you will be able to attend next month – just not this one.
Another thing that is requested (not mandatory) is for women to wear long skirts. You may wear a skirt over leggings but it is tradition. When I went to the blessing ceremony, I wore a skirt as requested. I had the opportunity to get to know some of the women and I asked one if there was a specific reason for this. The root reason is for hygiene reasons and air flow; however, it is a tradition and I would ask that you do this.
After I met with him several times, I have learned so much! These ceremonies, when performed in their traditional cultural contexts, are religious practices. Equivalent to something, like, say, the act of receiving communion for Catholics (this is only an example). Even non-Catholics respect the role of a priest and his position, and would never wander around selling “communion ceremonies” out of a backyard or garage, and moreover, people wouldn’t think that participating in one of these ceremonies was a replacement for the real thing. This is the real thing. He will share with us and teach us the native meanings and I guarantee you too will learn a lot!
Now comes the time for the exchange. The energetic exchange for this is $100. After what I experienced with him, I agreed to this exchange and believe it is well worth it. This exchange does not go to the shop – it goes directly to the Medicine Man. Remember – this is his livelihood and he is a healer. He is providing healing. Tradition also says that you donate tobacco. This is another subject I learned more about. In modern times, what is he to do with all the tobacco? When you RSVP, I will give you what you are to bring instead of a bag of tobacco.
What is included: Medicine Man to perform the Sacred Pipe Ceremony, Clearing Karmic Bond giving you a new start, Chanupa Pipe, Sacred Instruments and an experience you will remember all done according to true Lakota tradition. In the future, we will be doing more detailed ceremonies but this is a good start for now.
